Asian Pacific Community Fund announces a new generation of philanthropists

Asian Journal

The Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF), together with Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), will be recognizing young individuals and organizations making a difference in the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community through their outstanding leadership, volunteerism and philanthropic efforts. Los Angeles’ best and brightest emerging leaders will be honored at the 3rd Annual Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy Awards Reception on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

APCF and AAPIP will be highlighting the successes of these emerging community leaders to encourage others to get involved in the Asian and Pacific Islander community. With a new decade upon us, the need for funding in our communities is greater than ever, and this event addresses the importance of cultivating the next generation of philanthropists.

Leonardo Nam, creative Asian Pacific stage and screen actor featured in such films as Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the event, and help us in recognizing this year’s honorees, including:

-Tuesday Night Project, Community Excellence Award (Post-Grad/Professional Category)

-China Care Bruins, Community Excellence Award (Collegiate Category)

-Lisa Chong, “Russell Sakaguchi” Distinguished Leader in Philanthropy Award (25-35 Age Category)

-Jonathan Chi-Lin Lee, Distinguished Leader in Philanthropy Award (18-24 Age Category)

-Jonathan Lee & Robert Lee, Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy (Special Recognition)

This event will take place on Wednesday, March 2 from 6-8pm at the Elevate Lounge - Takami Sushi and Robata Restaurant, 811 Wilshire Blvd., 21st Floor in Los Angeles.

The Asian Pacific Community Fund is a community-based, nonprofit fund that was created to fulfill a need for a unified effort to educate and encourage donors to direct their charitable giving to benefit community organizations serving the rapidly growing population of Asian Pacific Islanders in Los Angeles.

Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy is a national membership and philanthropic advocacy organization dedicated to advancing philanthropy and Asian American/Pacific Islander communities.
