Fueling China's Sustainable Growth

2010 China Business Conference
“Fueling China's Sustainable Growth"
April 2, 2010

The Year 2009 started with China's record 4 trillion RMB stimulus package, which now appears to have successfully helped the country fend off an economic slowdown amid the global financial crisis. By the time Year 2009 winds down, the central government has announced set-up of New Industry Funds and the government's participation in the venture capital industry.

As the government remains cautiously optimistic about the economic outlook, the leadership points to many additional policy tools aiming at sustainable growth both economically and socially. In the meanwhile, there are both domestic and external concerns over issues including excess liquidity, inflated asset prices, country's long-term innovation, and the new dynamics between state-owned and private enterprises.

Additional questions emerge as China is projected to become the second largest economy in the near future. Will the Chinese consumers finally start to spend as their confidence grows? What is the implication and impact of new public policies that direct social capital? How will the private sector respond to and work with macro policies? Where lie your next Chinese opportunities?

The 3rd Annual China Business Conference, with the theme of “Fueling China's Sustainable Growth” (“助力中国的可持续增长), will be held on April 2, 2010 at Columbia University’s Morningside Campus. As China’s growth is reshaping the world, the conference will provide a forum to gauge China’s competences and responsibilities in its legal, economic, political and cultural developments, and present strategies to overcome numerous challenges that China faces.
